Understand the different type fashion, commercial and glamour modeling terminology used for black models.

Black Models

Black models are models that are chosen for their skin colour and ethnicity. These models are predominantly of African heritage; the term "black" is not used as an insult but instead to describe the colour of their skin. Both male and female black models are used in a wide variety of modelling work; everything from fashion lines and product promotion to lad’s mag glamour shots and pornographic adult images.

Black models within the fashion industry will still have to meet the standard male and female modelling studio requirements; as general rule women should be no shorter than 5’8” and men less than 6’0” need not apply, unless specifically requested. Fashion models should also have a clear complexion and be versatile in their style. The same can be said of the glamour and sexy modelling worlds where less importance is placed on height or features and more on the models ability to excite and entices their audience.
