Commercial models
are not required to be of a specific height, weight, age or
ethnicity which makes the market much more accessible compared to
fashion modelling. Commercial models are the silent marketing and
sales force used to promote a product or company and work includes
shoots in newspapers, magazines, brochures and catalogues.
The accepted quality
required from commercial models is their looks; they are generally
portrayed within the photo shoot as a real person, with more
natural-looking make-up and clothing than a fashion model. Their
modelling poses will match the product or brand that they are
promoting or advertising, with their main responsibility being to
bridge the gap between the client and their customers.
Often the best way
to get into commercial modelling is to learn some basic acting
skills as these will help you on-set at commercial shoots. The next
step is to upload your CV and portfolio on Modelling Resources;
making it available to agencies and photographers across the UK.
